An ESE (Early Streamer Emission) lightning arrester is a device that protects structures from direct lightning strikes by intercepting them and safely diverting the high-voltage current to the ground. It works by detecting an approaching storm, storing energy from ambient fields, and emitting an upward streamer of ionized air to become the preferred path for the lightning strike.
